We’ll “kick-off” the Fall Picking with 6 varieties of Apples.
Staymen Winesap, Granny Smith, Fuji,
Pink Lady, Gold Rush and Cameo Apples
along with a HUGE variety of Pumpkins and Gourds,
are ripe and ready for picking.
Our “Delicious” Apple and Pumpkin Festival begins
at 10am with Hayrides that run (continuously)
until 5pm Saturday, Sunday, and Monday Columbus Day!!

Fun Facts about Johnny Appleseed

Did you know…….

Johnny’s real name was John Chapman.

His purpose for planting Apple seeds was to ensure that no one would ever go hungry.

He carefully selected areas to plant the seeds and used fallen trees, logs and vines to fence the apple seeds in.

He lived on food provided by nature and never killed animals.

When he received money for selling his apple trees he would bury the cash instead of putting it in the bank.

BLUEBERRY CRUMBLE SQUARES
Delicious to eat
and so easy to make….
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 cups all purpose flour
1 cup shortening
1 egg
¼ teaspoon salt
A pinch of cinnamon
4 cups fresh blueberries
1 cup sugar
3 teaspoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons vanilla
Directions:
1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 9X13 pan
2.In a medium bowl, stir together 1 cup sugar, 3 cups flour, and baking powder. Mix in salt and cinnamon. Use a fork to blend in butter and egg. Dough should be crumbly. Pat half of dough into the prepared pan.
3.In a separate bowl, stir together the sugar and cornstarch. Gently mix in the blueberries. Sprinkle the blueberry mixture evenly over the crust. Crumble the remaining dough over the berry layer
4.Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until top is slightly browned. Cool completely before cutting into square
